The prompt for this was, "What was the last text you sent?" Armando Riesco sent this enigmatic answer. Had to try to channel a little Randy Newman for this one. Was lucky enough to get a couple of heavy hitter musicians for this one, including "Trombone" Jerome Harper and the insanely skilled clarinetist Mark Dover.
lyrics
Seems like all I ever do is travel
Spend most every day behind the wheel
Watching as the interstates unravel
Every town I visit's got a certain appeal
But there's nothing like the feeling of returning
To the only place I truly want to be
It's my haven, my hideaway and my refuge
So I spend Wednesday nights and Saturdays in Baton Rouge
Sundays you might find me in Savannah
Mondays maybe Memphis, Tennessee
Tuesday I could be in Texarkana
On Fridays I'll be kickin' it in Kankakee
But you'll always find me back in Lou'siana
Cause that is where my baby waits for me
She likes to call me Curly cause I'm her stooge
And I spend Wednesday nights and Saturdays in Baton Rouge
Thursday mornings I don't want to go
Whoa, no.
I'll be miles away but on Saturday
Only one place can deliver
And it's right along the river
Maybe someday I'll be done with all this traveling
And like old King Louis told his bons amis
He said, "I won't be king forever, après moi le deluge"
And every day will be like Saturday in Baton Rouge
Oh no...
Only one place can deliver
And it's right along the river
Maybe someday I'll be done with all this traveling
And like roi King Louis la dit a ça famille
He said, "I won't be king forever, après moi le deluge"
And every day will be like Saturday in Baton Rouge
